A coalition on poverty reduction has formed in our community, and is organizing a community briefing in a public forum to be presented to local politicians, service agencies, the media, and the community-at-large.
DETAILS
WHAT?
A public community briefing on poverty reduction
WHY?
Regrettably, North Bay has not been chosen by the Ontario government’s anti-poverty cabinet committee to be included in the community consultations across the province. As a result, a community coalition on poverty reduction has organized an alternative community briefing in order to contribute to the development of a local poverty reduction strategy that sheds light upon the need for systemic-level changes.
Our community coalition on poverty reduction has compiled local data to demonstrate the depth of poverty and the need for change. Disparities in wages, affordable housing, heating costs and access to transportation need to be addressed to improve the health and quality-of-life for all our residents.
