International Day for the Eradication of Poverty at York University
The public, colleagues, associates are invited to join in the commemoration of this day.
When: October 16, 2008
Time: 6 – 9 pm.
Where: Junior Common Room 014 McLaughlin College.
The function is a joint venture between academic community at York, various community groups including Results Canada, International Centre for the Eradication of Poverty etc. It is spearheaded by Human Rights Participatory Growth and Poverty Eradication Program of McLaughlin College, York University.
This program is headed by Economist Dr. Bhausaheb Ubale, O. ONT. (Order of Ontario). Senior Fellow in Public Policy & former Human Rights Commissioner of Ontario & Canadian Human Rights Commissions.
Open to the public. The function is open to public. The program on that day is as under:
- 6:00p.m. – 6:30p.m. Reception/Refreshments
- 6:30p.m. – 7:00p.m. Film/entertainment
- 7:00p.m. – 8:30p.m. Main function
- 8:30p.m. – 9:00p.m. Networking
HOW TO GET TO McLAUGHLIN COLLEGE YORK UNIVERSITY
If you are coming by car, the closest parking lot is the Founders North Parking Lot #66 on the York University Map to be found at: http://www.yorku.ca/yorkweb/maps/KeeleMap-Aug2007.pdf. The north part of the parking lot close to Steeles has pay parking available. From there, walk south to McLaughlin College (#51 on the same map).
If you are taking public transit (for example buses from Downsview, Sheppard or Finch subways), you’ll end up close to York Lanes (#24 on the map). Walk north from there to Vanier College (#56). Walk north through Vanier College and you’ll end up in McLaughlin College (#51).
If you are coming by taxi, the the taxi should drive west on Steeles, past Keele Street, and turn left on Founders Road. (http://www.yorku.ca/yorkweb/maps/KeeleMap-Aug2007.pdf). South on Founders Road to the traffic circle, halfway around to Ottawa Road, south on Ottawa Road a few yards, left on McLaughlin Road to passenger drop-off, walk south to McLaughlin College (#51 on the same map).
The event is in 140 McLaughlin, the Senior Common Room. If early, come to 220 McLaughlin College, the Master’s Office.
There will be plenty of signs in and around McLaughlin College directing you to this event.
